Your Sedentary Lifestyle Will Speed Up Your Aging Process and Diminish Life Expectancy

Most folks when they begin researching anti-aging methods and techniques, never consider the most important prevention method for anti-aging of all. Most of us search for the newest miracle potion or lotion that we are sure is going to make us look and feel younger and will increase the years of our life.

We fail to realize that the number one way to make ourselves look and feel younger and healthy is to get up, move around and get some exercise.

Stated another way, a sedentary lifestyle will almost always guarantee we age much faster than we were intended to.

Folks who lead a sedentary lifestyle age more quickly than those folks who lead an active lifestyle and choose to make daily exercise a part of their daily habit. the human body was not designed to be sitting around doing nothing.

It seems that in today's automated and technological society that more of us are failing to get the exercise that we so desperately need to maintain our youthful vigor. We are leading sedentary lives.

Sure, modern medicine may keep us alive longer than before but due to our lack of physical activity and the benefits it provides, our quality of life is suffering in our later years and for a lot of us, much sooner than that.

Can a Sedentary Lifestyle Really Make Us Age Faster?

Folks leading a sedentary lifestyle are at much greater risk for a whole host of illnesses and diseases such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, cardiovascular challenges and even cancer. In addition, a sedentary lifestyle leads to muscle atrophy which in turn makes one more susceptible to weight gain and physical injury.

And let's not forget that not only can obesity lead to a whole host of health problems, but will seriously compromise one's joints leading to premature breakdown of knees and hips as well as a host of other aging-related diseases.

Moving Away From A Sedentary Lifestyle Takes Nothing More Than A Change Of Mind

Becoming more active in your life really takes nothing more than determining that you are going to get some sort of physical exercise on a regular basis and then putting that determination into action. 15-30 minutes of physical activity per day will go a long way towards helping you maintain a healthy weight, stave off heart disease, bolster your immune system, and help you to feel better. If you find yourself in front of the TV every evening, something as simple as walking in place for twenty or thirty minutes while watching your favorite show would be a good start.

Or you could purchase an elliptical machine or a treadmill for use during your TV watching time. Better yet, you could substitute a half hour or so of television with a brisk walk around the block.

In addition to or instead of walking, you might think about joining a fitness club. Not only will you find the staff at most fitness clubs willing to tailor an exercise program that is right for you, a fitness club is a great place to meet others who may be on the same fitness level and schedule as you. Folks providing mutual motivation for one another could go a long way towards keeping you on track towards your fitness goals helping you to lose weight faster.

Is It Really True That Women Get Less Daily Exercise Than Men?

It is thought that since men as a whole are more sports minded than women might tend to be, that men get more exercise than do women. It is also thought that women may be more susceptible to problems caused by a sedentary lifestyle than are men. For instance, lack of load bearing activity such as simply walking is seen as partially responsible for loss of bone density leading to osteoporosis. And it seems that women are more susceptible to osteoporosis than are men.

A sedentary lifestyle for both women as well as men results in a slow down of your metabolism leading to a number of health challenges not the least of which is obesity.

And as mentioned earlier, obesity is the root of a whole host of dangerous health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular issues. Obesity also adversely affects your posture as well as putting a tremendous undue burden on all of your load bearing joints. And it is not only adults who are at risk - children are susceptible to the effects and risks of a sedentary life style as well. So you want to make sure that you monitor their leisure time to insure they are getting the exercise they need.

Regular physical exercise will keep you biologically much younger and healthier, will help with weight loss, and maintenance of a healthy weight range. You will also look better naked too!

Remember, it is never too late to begin to reverse the ravages that a sedentary lifestyle has or will do to your vigor and youth.
